The band competes in National competitions, and are currently graded in the Championship Section in the UK.
As well as competing, we regularly perform in concerts, carnival processions, village fetes and are available for bookings – we can provide anything from a single fanfare trumpeter to a full Brass Band!
Rehearsals are on Sundays from 7:00pm – 9:00pm and Wednesdays from 7:30pm – 9:30pm at our purpose built band room in Pontardulais.
Musical Director – Paul Jenkins
Paul began playing the trombone at the age of 11 with the Pontardulais Junior Band. He soon rose through the ranks under conductor, Mr Nigel Buist, and entered the Senior Band a year later.
He played in all seats in the trombone section, and became Principal Trombone at the age of 15. He had much success with the band, particularly with Mr C. B. Buckley at the helm.
In 2002, he was asked to play for the Cory Band, currently ranked number 1 in the world. He won the British Open Championship with them later that year.
He remained with them for 3 and a half years, before “returning home” to the Bont Band.
He has also had wide experience as a soloist, winning the South Wales Solo Champion Title on several occasions. He also competed in the world renowned BBC Young Musician of the Year and BBC Radio 2 Young Brass Soloist competitions.
Since beginning his conducting career with Pontardulais Town Band, they have:
